We Honor Veterans
Today, one in four Americans facing a terminal illness is a veteran. For some veterans, their military service can present challenges to a peaceful end-of-life experience.
Hospice of the Piedmont has joined a national initiative – We Honor Veterans – that focuses on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgement of veterans. This program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, assists hospices nationwide to become better prepared to meet the unique needs that veterans may be facing from illness, isolation, or traumatic life experience.
The We Honor Veterans program at Hospice of the Piedmont offers resources for staff education and opportunities for community networking in order to provide veterans and their families excellent and respectful medical, emotional, and spiritual care.
Our goal is to guide veterans through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending. For more information or to be part of this important program as a volunteer, contact us at 336.889.8446 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
