About the DAISY Award
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To learn more, visit DAISYFoundation.org.
The DAISY Award at Hospice of the Piedmont
Anyone who has received exceptional care from one of the nurses at Hospice of the Piedmont and its affiliate, Hospice of Randolph, is invited to nominate the nurse for a DAISY Award. This includes patients, family members, visitors, fellow hospice team members, and hospice volunteers. Each year, DAISY Award nominees will be honored and one DAISY Award winner will be announced during an awards ceremony each November in honor of National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. Please note: Nominations will close each year on September 15. Those received after September 15 will be considered with the following year’s nominations.
