Anticipatory Grief 101 - Virtual Event

Anticipatory grief refers to the grief and mourning that individuals can experience before the death of a loved one, typically when a family member or close friend is diagnosed with a terminal illness or when death is imminent. This type of grief allows individuals to begin processing their emotions and prepare for the upcoming loss, but it can also be complex and difficult to manage.

Anticipatory Grief 101 is a one-time introductory support and education session designed to explore common symptoms of anticipatory grief and provide encouragement and helpful coping strategies.

While this session is open to anyone in the community that may be experiencing anticipatory grief, caregivers may find this session especially beneficial. Anticipatory grief can be a common occurrence during the caregiving journey as a loved one’s independence decreases and care needs increase, which lead to needed life adjustments. Engaging with others facing similar circumstances and learning more about anticipatory grief can help combat caregiver fatigue and burnout.
